I feel great in my soul. I have a yearning desire to do somethihg for the Lord, and I have peace and happiness within. Please, if any one out there is down in the dumps, when you walk by me, smile for my sake, because I don't want to be in the dumps with you.
I always wanted my husband to get saved so I could have a good "Christian man" for my husband, but I didn't expect the Lord to not only save his soul, but call him to preach the Gospel. I didn't think I would make a good preacher's wife. Now, after being in that position for over 29 years, I still feel the same way, but I have adopted the following scripture as my strength.
I can do all things through Christ which strengeneth me.
Philippians 4:13 (KJV).
I have found that you might be a preacher's wife if:
You can sincerely pray for someone's dog.
If people think your husband only works 3 hours a week.,
If you can make furniture out of orange crates and Christmas ornaments out of egg cartons.
You know for a fact that you have the best cooks in the world going to your church.
You suffer from "PWS" -- Pastor's Wife Syndrome.
You know all the verses to the hymns without using the hymnal.
You are loved by the most wonderful people in the world.
His pleasure is not in the strength of the horse, nor his delight in the legs of a man.
Psalm 147:10 (NIV)
In my life, I have lost over 150 pounds. Of course this was over a span of 50 years and about 10 different diets. This also means that I had time in between diets to gain it all back, plus a few more.
My weight problem can be compared to a person's walk with Jesus. When you lose weight you feel good about yourself and the next thing you know you are back to eating the same things that made you gain in the first place. If we are not careful, we can feel good about our salvation and our walk with the Lord, and when disappointments and trials come (and this inevitable), the same old ways creep back in and try to rob you of your joy.
One good scripture to remember when this happens is:
The Lord delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in His unfailing love.
