My name is Carla. I was born on May 18, 1971. I am a graduate of Strasburg High school class of '89. I wasn't brought up in church but I always knew that there was a God. In kindergarten we prayed before lunch. We also sang "Jesus Loves Me" in class. In the middle school, Bible class was offered to students on an optional basis. I took that class for one year and I really enjoyed it. I always knew that God was always there, but I wasn't there for Him. August 9, 1992 changed all that.
That evening I was in a boating accident. Another boat hit us and I went overboard. As I tried to go to the top for air, I couldn't. I felt a boat move across my back. I could see the water swirling in front of me. I realized it was the propeller blades. The thought came to my mind "This is how I am going to die." I remember thinking, "God please don't let this be it." I remember something pulling me from behind and then my shorts ripped off. I went straight to the top. There was blood everywhere around me. I had a weird feeling on my left backside. I touched my left buttocks and had 3 large gashes on it. Also I had tissue matter hanging off of me where the propeller blade pulled it out. I was flown by Pegesus to UVA hosptital. I was very lucky. The blades only struck fat and nerves. My left leg has some permenat nerve damage. I had over 100 stiches and 57 staples. I was in the hospital for 8 days and missed a month from work.
As I laid in my hosptal bed, I started to think about God. This was my wake up call. So I stopped and listen to Him in my heart.
Psalms 46:10 BE STILL AND kNOW THAT I AM GOD.
I gave my heart to Jesus. When I was able to get around, I started to go to church.
On August 7, 1999, I married my best friend Jeff, the leader of Remembrance. I play the flute in the band. The Lord has also blessed me with 3 stepchildren. They are so awesome! As I look back to my accident, I consider it my blessing in disguise. My advice I would like to give is, Don't run from God, because he will surely get your attention. He got mine. I would also like to thank God for wondreful parents and brothers that He gave me!
So if you ever get a chance, stop by our church and hear Remembrance play. WE ROCK FOR GOD!

Baggy Gallery

This is Baxter, Our family dog, He's cool and has lots of character.

He earned the nickname "Baggy" because of his loose skin.

We now know that the sphinx in Egypt is not a lion with a mans head, it's a basset hound!

Opps! sorry about that!

Well, while were at it.
He sure is a lot of laughs!
